Any relative motion and physical separation of materials or flow of solids, liquids or particle-laden gases can generate an electrostatic discharge. The '99/92EC ATEX (Workplace) Directive' recognises these discharges as a potential source of ignition in explosive atmospheres associated with a range of industries, particularly within chemicals, pharmaceuticals, petroleum and food processing. Common sources of electrostatic discharge include; items made from plastic materials, processing equipment and personnel. Such static build-up and discharge can damage or destroy sensitive electronic components, erase or alter magnetic media or make material handling problematic.
FIRST IN SAFETY
STATEC™Anti-static Dissipative safety products are manufactured from a plastic material with the ability to readily dissipate a static charge before it can accumulate to a critical level. It’s dissipative nature helps control a rapid discharge to earth. They are resistant to most chemicals and used in many different areas of industry that have explosive atmospheres.
STATEC™ products are the only plastic hand tools have been independently tested and certified to ATEX(EU) & IEC standards.
